Blacking It Up! is a podcast and radio show recorded and broadcast live Monday through Thursday. It is produced and distributed by TWiBIUnlimited™ and is the 2011 winner of “Best Podcast”  in the Black Weblog Awards (Popular Vote & Judges Vote.) The hosts of the show take a daily look at politics, race, and pop-culture in a so-called “post-racial” America.

The show was created and is hosted by the critically acclaimed and award winning This Week in Blackness editor-in-chief Elon James White. He’s accompanied by political strategist and frequent NY1 contributor L. Joy Williams. Rounding out #TeamBlackness is the premiere straight man and recent 311 employee Aaron Freeman. Together they create #TeamBlackness and tackle everything from 112th congress to Soulja Boy Tell’em to pros and cons of truncated metaphors.

Each day #TeamBlackness scours the morning news and produce a daily docket of hot topics and news to discuss. #TBUnited gets in on the action using social media by tweeting news for our consideration using the hashtag #TWIBdocket.

Aaron Rand Freeman is a Brooklyn native Aaron Rand Freeman is the premiere straight man at BcCo Studios. He’s a recent college graduate who moonlights as a 311 operator in NYC and decimates all challengers on all gaming platforms in his spare time.

L. Joy Williams is a political strategist and founder of LJW Community Strategies, a boutique government and public affairs firm based in New York. Ms. Williams has also been featured on BET, Pacifica Radio in New York and Los Angeles, and is a frequent contributor on NY1’s Inside City Hall. Widely recognized as a highly effective asset, Ms. Williams has served in a variety of career-defining positions. Recently Ms. Williams served as deputy director of community relations to former New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson. She went on to become Thompson’s political director in his 2009 mayoral campaign. Peers and mentors alike applauded her invaluable contributions during the challenging campaign. Ms. Williams is active in her local community serving on a number of boards including the Brooklyn NAACP and Bedford Stuyvesant YMCA and serves as a strategic advisor to elected leaders and organizations across the country.
